UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Road crews across the Tri-State geared up for a blast of winter Friday night.
Salt truck drivers in Clermont County are on the road for just the second time this winter.
Last year Clermont County spent $500,000 on snow removal in December alone. This December they spent nothing thanks to the mild conditions.
Tim Creager has been driving a salt truck in Clermont County for 10 years. He says he’s never seen a winter like this one.
"Nothing like this would happen in our wildest dreams," said Creager.
Creager and the rest of the salt truck drivers, call their dispatch center every time they finish laying salt on a road.
That allows managers to keep track of what areas have been treated.
Each salt truck is loaded with calcium, which is used to help the salt work if temperatures drop.
But, Creager says there is nothing drivers can do if the roads turn to ice.
"All bets are off when you're on ice, I’m no better off than anybody else," said Creager.
