CINCINNATI - Do you have a room in your house that's always cold in the winter?

How about a room that seems extremely hot?

A home energy evaluation could help you solve those problems. GreenStreet Solutions says evaluating a home's energy consumption could help a homeowner cut their monthly utility bills by 35 percent.

Lead home energy auditor and general manager, Sean Smith, says assessing airflow and heat transfer are two of the main components of the audit process.

"Irregular temperatures and drafts can be aggravating and uncomfortable for everyone," Smith said.

The company conducted an energy consumption review at a Hyde Park home and says the homeowner ended up cutting their winter utility bill from $1,000 to $600 per month.

The frost first floor and unusually warm third floor space led to higher utility bills.

GreenStreet solutions found cold air was leaking in beneath the trim on the first floor, through a second floor fireplace, which had a missing flue.

The report also found an unsealed attic hatch.

GreenStreet says the homeowner decided to correct some of the issues himself, but their experts also made some of the needed repairs.

The Total Home Performance Reviews by GreenStreet Solutions start at $250.
