ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio - For the second time in as many weeks, Hamilton County Sheriff's deputies arrested a group of teenagers for breaking into cars in Anderson Township.
"They took my sunglasses, car charger, a bunch of papers and work things some money and my checkbook," said Dan Palazzolo.
Palazzolo lives in the Summit Estates neighborhood.
"The cops came about 6 in the morning and woke us up and said they'd found a bunch of my stuff from my car," said Palazzolo.
Three teenagers were arrested. Two were 15 and one was 14. Each was charged with two felonies and eight misdemeanors.
"This is becoming quite a prevalent problem in all areas, not just in Anderson," said Lt. Mike Hartzler of the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
Hartzler offers some advice for those who park on the street.
"We ask them to take their property out of cars. Don't make themselves such an easy target," said Hartzler.
He suggests that these types of crimes are drug related and that thieves are looking for items they can pawn or sell quickly.
Palazzolo confessed that he made it easy on them.
"They came through the driver's side door because I left it open. So, it was my own fault," said Palazzolo.
Just last week deputies arrested four teenagers for similar crimes. Hartzler urges residents to take the time to move valuables into the trunk or inside the house.
"We ask people to help themselves and to help us. It's better that we work together and not give people something to take," said Hartzler.
