CINCINNATI - The beleaguered West End Health Center will be shutting its doors on Friday.
The center, which at one point treated more than 4,500 people, was not able to go without government funding, which they did not have.
Center officials tell 9 News that, "We just can't make it work" and that they had no choice but to shut their doors. They had already scaled back hours and services and couldn't cut any more.
The center was once a partner with the Winton Hills Medical Center, but that partnership ended last year. They have repeatedly petitioned both the county and the federal government for financial help, but have been unable to get it.
Officials say that about 35 people will be out of work when they close and that any current patients will be referred to either other doctors or agency's to assist with their care.
