CINCINNATI - Cincinnati police swooped in on the Liberty Lounge in Cincinnati's West End Tuesday, a bar that police describe as a hotbed for drug activity and violence.
Officers executed a raid just before 2 p.m. Tuesday at the bar located at 436 W. Liberty Street after what is described as months of efforts to get the owner of the building to comply with various building and fire codes.
"There have been shootings outside. Shots have been fired inside and it has been a place where open drug use has been tolerated," said Sgt. Eric Franz of the Cincinnati Police Department.
Along with police were representatives from the Cincinnati Health Department and Fire Department.
"We have tried to work with the owner since May but he hasn't brought the place up to code," said Franz.
Police have not yet released what they found inside the bar, or the exact violations they were seeking to enforce.
