CINCINNATI - A redevelopment project in Over-the-Rhine begins Tuesday with a groundbreaking ceremony.
Almost 30 new residences and 3,900 square feet of commercial space will comprise the Mercer Commons, a planned area at the corner of Vine and Mercer streets. The project is scheduled to be completed within 16 months and kicks off with a 10:30 a.m. groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday at the site.
The first stage in the revitalization involves restoring four existing buildings and adding a parking garage. Eventually, Mercer Commons will have 23 condominiums, five townhomes and a commercial area.
The parking garage, which is scheduled to open March 2013, will have 340 parking spaces.
Cincinnati mayor Mark Mallory, city manager Milton Dohoney Jr., city council members, and 3CDC and PNC Bank representatives are expected to attend Tuesday's ceremony.
