CINCINNATI - A new housing development officially opened Tuesday in Over-the-Rhine.

The first phase of North Rhine Heights opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony by city officials at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The Model Group Community housing development includes 13 properties with 65 fully renovated apartments.

The apartments are located in the 100 block of East McMicken, north of Liberty Street. Two of the historic buildings within the community will be LEED Certified.

The development is part of the city's continued effort and strategy for neighborhood reinvestment.

"We are equally proud if not more proud of developments like this because we know for the next thirty years people are going to have a high quality apartment to call home," said Steve Smith from The Model Group.

Cincinnati officials and interested applicants got a chance to tour one of the apartments after the ribbon cutting ceremony.

There are one, two, and three bedroom apartments available. The prices for those apartments range from $574 to $815 per month.
