OVER-THE-RHINE, Ohio - The homeless community in Over-the-Rhine was greeted with a warm breakfast Sunday morning thanks to a group of Jewish young professionals.
"People are just really grateful and especially when it's so cold out it's hard to get a hot meal so we are happy to provide it," said Rebecca Hoffheimer with the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati.
The project is a part of ACTout, a partnership between Access, a program for Jewish young adults 21-35, an initiative of the Mayerson Foundation, and the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati.
The event took place at Nast Trinity United Methodist Church on Race Street. Volunteers served the meals restaurant style to more than two hundred homeless people.
"We're actually serving them breakfast and waiting on them so it's a real restaurant experience where they can have their order taken and everything and it just gives them a better sense of dignity," said Rachel Plowden with The Mayerson Foundation.
