CINCINNATI - Hamilton County Commissioners voted unanimously Wednesday to lease Memorial Hall to 3CDC so the local landmark can be renovated.
The board voted on an agreement to lease Memorial Hall located at 1225 Elm Street in Over-the-Rhine which will be the first lease of county-owned property since the stadiums.
Memorial Hall, built in 1908, is on the national register of historic places.
The building is in need of major renovations including a new roof, windows, floors, facade, air conditioning and bathrooms, all of which will be funded by 3CDC through a tax credit that will ensure the building’s architectural integrity and significance are maintained.
“The public-private partnership between 3CDC and Hamilton County will result in the preservation of historic Memorial Hall without the use of taxpayer dollars for the improvements,” said Commissioner Greg Hartmann in a release.
Hamilton County plans to lease the building at Elm and Grant Street to 3CDC. The purpose of the lease is to gain tax credits for the redevelopment project.
3CDC is a non-profit real estate development and finance organization. Its focus is on revitalizing Cincinnati's urban core.
