CINCINNATI - The Freestore Foodbank is striving to make sure no family goes hungry this holiday season.

The foodbank's "Double Your Dollars" campaign, which was held Thursday, brought in close to a quarter of a million dollars.

The campaign urged those in the community to give a donation and local companies in turn matched the dollar amount for a total of $245,510. Officials say that's enough to provide 982,040 meals to needy families in the Greater Cincinnati area.

In addition to the money raised during Thursday's campaign, the Freestore was also presented with a $50,000 check on Friday from Beaulieu Vineyard Wines that will also go toward helping families during the holiday season.

Starting Nov. 19, the foodbank will distribute Thanksgiving food boxes to local families. Nearly 20,000 people in the Tri-State are expected to benefit from the initiative.

Food distributions are at the Freestore's Customer Connection Center on East Liberty Nov. 19 through Nov. 21 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
