NORWOOD, Ohio - Norwood city employees will not receive paychecks this Friday.
Norwood Mayor Thomas Williams told 9 News the city won't make payroll until at least Wednesday of next week, five days late.
"We had three paydays come in September. As the revenue comes in when you have three paydays in one month, it puts a strain. And the earnings tax, there wasn't enough earnings tax to come in and cover it," said Williams.
The mayor says he's worked with police and fire department unions to cut costs. He says he hopes new businesses moving to Norwood will boost tax rolls enough to replenish the city's rainy day fund.
