CINCINNATI - Getting your car towed is one way to have your day ruined and it appears one local company is under investigation for making it worse.

The Cincinnati city prosecutor’s office has opened a case on Kenwood Towing, looking into potentially “unlawful practices.” The case cites citizen complaints of overcharging.

"I would encourage [people] to be aware, so they don't get taken advantage of. And again the towing companies need to know there are going to be stiff penalties on the books if they act unlawfully,” said Cincinnati City Councilman P.G. Sittenfeld.

Kenwood Towing has two addresses on Spring Grove Avenue, one in Northside and one in South Cumminsville.

The company has been suspended indefinitely from city towing jobs pending investigation.
