LOCKLAND, Ohio - A Lockland police officer and a woman were injured in a crash when they collided with each other at an intersection Friday morning.

The accident happened after 8 a.m. at the intersection of Wyoming Avenue and Forre Avenue.

Police say the woman ran a red light and collided with the police cruiser Officer Terry Wilkerson was driving.

Both the female driver and Wilkerson were taken to the hospital. Their conditions and identities have not been released.

"[About] three months ago, he had back surgery, and he's been back for about a month and a half," said Chief James Toles of the Lockland police department. "He's sustained an injury that he was complaining of back and neck injuries," said Toles.

Lockland police said Wilkerson is a 16-year veteran of the force and had only been back at work for a month.

No citations or charges have been filed in the accident as of Friday morning.
