LOCKLAND, Ohio - Lockland police are searching for suspects involved in a shooting that led to three people’s injuries Sunday afternoon.

An adult and two juveniles were injured after they were shot in the 100 block of North Wayne Avenue at about 3 p.m. The adult suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, one juvenile suffered a gunshot wound to the right shoulder while the other juvenile was grazed on the cheek. Police said the man grazed on the cheek is lucky to be alive.  Police are not releasing the identities of the victims.

Police say they believe the shooting started with an attempted robbery on West Wyoming Avenue. A man was getting out of his vehicle to go to work when he was held at gunpoint and told to give up everything he had.  Police said he was a licensed concealed carry holder. They describe the incident as rare since the man fought back. Police believe the suspects tried to rob the wrong person.

Some time after the attempted robbery, multiple shots were fired, according to officials. Police are not sure who fired the shots, but do know about seven people were in an alley before the shooting took place.

A 40 caliber semi-automatic weapon was also recovered from the scene.

A witness who lives along North Wayne Avenue where the shooting allegedly took place said he is tired of the crime in the area and wants to move.

Another attempted robbery in Lockland happened earlier in the day, but police are not sure if it is connected.

Police said the community should not be in any danger, but they added extra patrols on the roads just to be safe.

The shooting is still under investigation.

Authorities ask that anyone with information call Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
