CINCINNATI - Lyn Walraven of Ross has two small bags packed as he prepares to leave the headquarters of the Greater Cincinnati-Dayton Region of the American Red Cross .

Walraven was one of four volunteers deployed on Monday to Clarksburg, West Virginia, to help with disaster relief from Hurricane Sandy.

"It's right on the edge of what will be warm weather coming off the ocean or cold weather coming down from Canada. So they have blizzard warnings out with snow forecast from six inches to two to four feet," said Walraven.

So far the local chapter has already deployed 15 volunteers. Walraven was joined by Dick Robinson of Colerain Township. "My assignment will be doing disaster assessment," said Robinson. "That's why we are trying to get out early. So we can be there on sight as the storm hits and shortly after it comes through so we can get the assessments made and how many additional people we need deployed."

The volunteers will be deployed for a three week time span.

"It's a little taxing on me and my wife," said Robinson. "I miss the grandkids and the kids but considering what we will accomplish and get done, its worth it."
