CINCINNATI - Mayor Mark Mallory is announcing a health initiative on Tuesday that impacts children all across the city.
Mallory is launching the Summer Food Program with Cincinnati Public Schools and the Children's Health Alliance of Ohio.
The lunch program provides nutritious meals at locations throughout the Hamilton County during the summer. Children up to 18 are able to visit for lunch during the weekday with no required registration or cost.
According to health experts, the lack of nutrition during the summer months may set up a cycle for poor performance once the school year begins. This program hopes to fill the nutrition gap.
Mayor Mallory is scheduled to make his announcement today at 12:15 p.m. at Burnet Woods.
