A local initiative to promote purchasing items, particularly holiday goods, from locally-owned vendors took place on Saturday, Nov. 17. The event is called Cincinnati Unchained.

CINCINNATI - Businesses all over the Tri-State are offering discounts to start the holiday shopping season.

More than 40 locally-owned businesses are participating in Cincinnati Unchained on Saturday.

The idea behind the event is to encourage shoppers to support local businesses.

Involved stores and retailers will be offering special one-day sales. In addition to these specials, neighborhood businesses will be giving away gift baskets filled with goodies from participating local businesses.

All you need to do to be entered to win is visit local businesses throughout the day.

The stores are located in Bellevue, Clifton Heights/University Heights, College Hill, Covington, Downtown, Montgomery, Newport, Northside, Norwood, Oakley, O'Bryonville and Over-the-Rhine.
