CINCINNATI - Police are searching for a suspect who stabbed a man near Kroger’s corporate headquarters in downtown Cincinnati Wednesday.
A 27-year-old man was standing in the Vine Street Kafe, 1014 Vine Street, which shares the same address as Kroger's corporate building downtown, when a suspect came up behind the victim and stabbed him in the abdomen and arm at about 10:45 a.m. Officials say the stabbing happened during a robbery at the business.
Emergency crews transported the victim, whose name has not yet been released, to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect fled the scene after the stabbing and police are searching the area for the individual. Officials describe the suspect as a black male, but have not released any additional details.
Kroger released the following statement about the incident: "No Kroger employees or building tenants were involved in this morning’s incident. The altercation was isolated and contained between two individuals. The fact is, the work of 3CDC and the City to develop and improve Over the Rhine for the past few years has contributed to a safer downtown environment."
