CINCINNATI - P&G has announced on its website that the company has decided to voluntarily expand its limited recall of specialized dry pet foods to include veterinary and some specialized dry pet food.

The company says it is a precautionary measure due to the possible contamination of salmonella at one of its facilities.

Iams Veterinary Dry, Eukanuba Naturally Wild, Eukanuba Pure, and Eukanuba Custom Care Sensitive Skin are all included in the expanded voluntary recall.

P&G says its important for pet owners to understand that they could also be contaminated with salmonella just by touching the pet food.

It's also possible that pets may suffer from salmonella and not show obvious signs.

However, those pets can still infect other pets.

The company says after working with the FDA it has decided to recall all products made at that facility.

Vomiting, diarrhea, or bloody diarrhea and fever are symptoms of salmonella in humans.

Pets infected with salmonella may have decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain.

You can check the UPC codes by going to www.iams.com.

Contact P&G at 877-340-8823 for further information on product replacement or refunds.
