CINCINNATI - Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory gave Tri-State residents a sneak peek at the streetcar that will go through the area during his State of the City Address Tuesday night .

Mallory unveiled the proposed designs for the streetcar at the meeting and announced the city’s partnership with CAF USA , who will build up to five modern streetcar vehicles. The Cincinnati Streetcar Project broke ground in February .

While the specific design has not yet been determined, Mallory showed several proposed designs, which included models with red and white exteriors.

The city will enter into contract negotiations with CAF USA, which has also produced streetcars in cities like Pittsburgh, Sacramento and Houston.

The Cincinnati Streetcar Project has been scaled back over time both financially and geographically after Ohio's Department of Transportation said it would not contribute $52 million. The project is estimated to cost $128 million.

The route is now expected to cover ground from Fountain Square to Findlay Market and expand to other communities in the coming years.
