CINCINNATI - Just after midnight, Deborah Stevenson of Price Hill took the first spot in line outside the Freestore Foodbank on Liberty Street for the annual food distribution this holiday season.

"I'm freezing," said Stevenson. The mother of two braved the chilly temperatures on Monday in order to give her two children a traditional meal on Thanksgiving.

"I'm blessed and I'm happy to be here to get a turkey and I'm happy the Freestore is helping us out at this time. I appreciate it very much," said Stevenson.

The Freestore Foodbank plans to serve more than 40,000 people over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Each family receives a chicken or turkey, a box of produce, a box of food that includes stuffing and canned vegetables along with a dessert.

"We are seeing a 35 percent increase this year," said Kurt Reiber, President & CEO of Freestore Foodbank

Folks interested in a holiday meal will need to bring identification. The distribution runs from 8 a.m. to
4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
