Local restaurants are asking customers to donate to charities, and some tasty treats are being used as incentive.

Cincinnati-area Chick-fil-A restaurants will sponsor Cookies for Orphans day on Wednesday .

All proceeds from the sale of chocolate chip cookies will be donated to the orphan care programs of A Child's Hope Int'l .

There are 143 million orphans in the world, and the proceeds from the cookies will go toward helping them with high -protein food, freshwater wells, medical supplies, clothing and shoes, educational supplies and medical treatments.

The International House of Pankcakes [IHOP] is raising money to support the Children's Miracle Network .

Area restaurants will offer a free short stack to every customer on National Pancake Day, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5. In return, customers will be asked to leave a donation that will benefit programs at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

The annual event is part of IHOP's 30th anniversary, with this year's goal of raising $3 million.
