CINCINNATI - The Banks riverfront development reaches an important step with the opening of a main roadway Tuesday when Freedom Way East officially opens Tuesday.

The road is the main corridor connecting Great American Ballpark (GABP) to Paul Brown Stadium. It extends from Joe Nuxhall Way at GABP to Walnut Street. The official opening clears the way for more retail and restaurants in the development. It also provides access for the many people living at the Current at the Banks apartments.

Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory joins other representatives from Hamilton County and the Banks public partnership to commemorate the opening at 1 p.m. at the corner of Joe Nuxhall Way and Freedom Way.  Mayor Mallory will officiate the street-sign unveiling for East Freedom Way.

When the entire project is complete, it will feature nearly three million square feet of residential living, retail, restaurants, office space and hotel rooms.

It also gives access to the Underground Railroad Freedom Center. Other dining options for the development include Huey's 24/7 Diner, Johnny Rockets, Moerlein Lager House and Toby Keith's I Love This Bar.
