CINCINNATI - Parts of Longworth Hall could be destroyed in order to make a path for a new bridge to replace the Brent Spence Bridge.  According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, about 200 feet of the building on the 700 W. Pete Rose Way might have to be eliminated.

Part of the building houses Veid and Veid Accounting. The husband and wife team, who operate the firm, believe they have plenty of time before they should find new office space.

"We haven't started out looking for space yet," said Richard Veid. "We don't know how long it could be…10 years or more possibly."

Veid's wife, Diana, recalled projects from the past and hopes history will not repeat itself.

"We're also hoping that it's not like 'The Banks' project," said Diana. "They demolish a section of the building and just let it sit for five or six years."

While the Veid's and other tenants at Longworth Hall have some time before leaving their office space, Duke Energy started preparing in the Spring of 2011.  The company began cleaning up an substation about a block away from Longworth Hall, because the area would have to be vacated when the new bridge is built.
