CINCINNATI - After debates, votes and research, leaders in Cincinnati will break ground on the streetcar project Friday.

A 1 p.m. ceremony at Memorial Hall, 1225 Elm Street, will kick off construction on the controversial project.

The project has been scaled back over time both financially and geographically after Ohio's Department of Transportation said it would not contribute $52 million.

The route is now expected to cover ground from Fountain Square to Findlay Market and expand to other communities in the coming years.
