CINCINNATI - The goal was simple: Raise money for a facility designed to aid young people in need.
That's why a large group of supporters showed up on Fountain Square Saturday morning to participate in Lighthouse Youth Services 1st 'Walk to Walk' event. The walk, a fundraising event, began at the square and went to the new Youth Services building on Highland Avenue in Corryville.
The building is a newer version of an old facility to help kids age 18-24 who are homeless, a population they say is underserved and growing. The new facility is scheduled to open this fall. They currently operate the prorgam at the Anthony Building on Vine Street.
Organizers say the event will help not only the building project, but will help provide, shoes, socks, clothing and even bus tokens for kids that qualify.
They also say the walk's path is the same as many of the kids in the program take when they come in for a much needed meal.
