DEER PARK, Ohio - A woman was extracted from her vehicle after it struck a utility pole near Deer Park High School Wednesday evening.

Police say the woman lost control over her vehicle while driving on 8351 Plainfield Road and hit a telephone pole, which caused it to flip on its side just after 8 p.m. Emergency crews utilized the Jaws of Life tool to remove her from the vehicle after she had been trapped for 12 minutes.

The woman, whose name was not released by police, was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
