CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati students are talking about the sudden resignation of University President Greg Williams.
For many, the timing of the announcement is most surprising.
"I feel like so much has changed around here with the semester conversion, I feel it's just kind of a weird time for him to step down," said UC student Eric Stetz.
UC officials say Williams resigned for personal reasons.
Students 9 News spoke with had nothing but good things to say about Williams, who took over as university president in 2009.
"I never heard anything really negative about him, and we interact with students on a daily basis," said Jason Hoffman, Editor and Chief of UC's student newspaper, The News Record .
Provost Santa Jeremy Ono, PhD., has been appointed interim president. Ono is the senior vice president of academic affairs and both a pediatrics and biology professor at UC.
"Santa Ono has a lot better reputation with the students because he's on twitter and he's kind of got his own brand that he has, so he's a more recognizable face among the student body," said Hoffman.
More information about Ono can be found at http://www.uc.edu/provost/about-us/staff/santa_ono.html .
