CINCINNATI - The Second Lady is in Cincinnati for a visit to promote community college partnerships with local businesses.

Vice-President Joe Biden's wife Dr. Jill Biden was greeted by the president of Cincinnati State Technical and Community College Dr. O'dell Owens and Mayor Mark Mallory after departing her tour bus Wednesday afternoon.

The Second Lady and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis are in the Queen City as part of an initiative by President Obama to help community college graduates get jobs after graduation.

The "Community College to Career" program will encourage local businesses to partner with community colleges in order to tap into the pool of graduates who are looking to join the workforce.

Dr. Biden addressed the small crowd encouraging local employers to tap into community colleges when looking to hire.

"The businesses and the colleges form partnerships. I'm a community college professor. I see these students and they're working as nurses as techs. The good thing is they're going to get a job," said Dr. Biden.

President Obama recently announced $8 billion in funding to support the program.

The Department of Labor and Department of Education will work as co-administrators of the program with a goal of training two million workers with skills that will lead directly to jobs after graduation.

Cincinnati State's health sciences department will receive funding from the program to expand its health careers collaborative.

The amount of funding Cincinnati State will receive has not been announced.

Dr. Biden, a community college professor, is crisscrossing several states with Secretary Solis on the "Community College to Career" tour bus.

The pair will also make stops in Kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina.
