CINCINNATI - Cincinnati Public Schools are going dark Wednesday to earn a big donation from Duke Energy.
From 1:45 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. all CPS schools are turning out the lights.
It’s all part of the “Turn Off The Power” program to help Duke Energy plan for and avoid true blackouts.
In exchange for the 45 minutes of darkness, Duke will donate $700,000 to CPS.
School officials said the schools won’t dismiss students early. Instead they’ll use the time to practice fire drills.
