CINCINNATI - Police are searching for a driver who ran away after hitting a telephone pole and fire hydrant in North Avondale early Thursday morning.
A male driver was traveling northbound on Reading Road at a high rate of speed, when he lost control of the vehicle in the 3700 block of Reading Road at about 2:15 a.m.
After the driver hit a garbage can, which struck a parked vehicle, he sped away and into a telephone pole. The collision caused the vehicle to spin out and crash into a fire hydrant.
The driver and passengers fled the scene on foot. A woman told police that she witnessed the crash, but later admitted she was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Authorities have not released any additional details about the crash at this time, including a description of the driver.
