CINCINNATI - They may have a big tournament coming up in a few days, but on Tuesday evening golf wasn't the number one priority for some of the players taking part in the Teva Golf Championship.
Instead, they were focused on bringing smiles to the faces of local cancer patients.
Members of the tour, who tee-off in Mason this weekend, stopped by the American Cancer Society
Musekamp Family Hope Lodge on Reading Road in Avondale to cook dinner and entertain guests.
The Hope Lodge provides no-cost lodging to cancer patients and their guests who come to Cincinnati for treatment.
Players volunteer in all the communities on their tour stops, and say it's one of the most special parts of the tour.
"Well, I think it's a great way to give back to the community," said tour member Sofie Andersson. "I mean, we're being hosted here for a week to play a golf tournament, and I mean, there's no better way to actually to do something in return."
The Teva Championship is the Cincinnati-area tournament on the Duramed FUTURES tour for women's golf. It has been designated as the official developmental tour of the LPGA
It runs through June 13 at The Golf Center at Kings Island.
