CINCINNATI - The America Red Cross is seeking donations for those affected by the Mississippi River flooding and the Alabama tornadoes.
On Thursday, the Red Cross reported more than 1,250 people from across the South spent the night in a Red Cross shelter because of the tornadoes and flooding.
The Red Cross says just $3 can provide a comfort kit and $6 can cover the cost of a blanket for someone in a disaster. They say for $150, someone's donation can cover the cost of providing food and shelter to a family of four for one day they spend in a shelter.
Donations can be made at online at http://cincinnatiredcross.org , by calling 513-579-3000 or by texting the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Contributions may also be sent to the Cincinnati Area Chapter of the American Red Cross at P.O. Box 5216, Cincinnati, OH 45201-5216.
