CINCINNATI - Supporters of Keller's IGA on Ludlow Avenue are working to help the popular market reopen. Saturday afternoon they will hold a public meeting with the hopes of starting a petition drive.
The meeting is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., at the Immanuel Presbyterian Church located on Clifton Avenue.
Keller's IGA was forced to close in early January, after some financial trouble. A notice on the market's front door January 6th said the store's business license was suspended in a dispute over whether it had paid state sales tax.
For those in Clifton and surrounding neighborhoods, the store was a beloved institution. Now they've had to find a new place to shop for groceries, since the State of Ohio closed Keller's IGA for non-payment of sales tax.
Today supporters of the market say they hope Governor John Kasich will work out a payment plan with the state, so their beloved market can reopen. They also say they want the store to reopen so around 50 employees will get there jobs back.
