BOSTON - President Barack Obama touched a nerve with baseball fans in Boston Monday night.
Appearing at a fundraiser at Symphony Hall, Obama drew a barrage of boos when he said, "Boston, I just want to say thank you for Youkilis."
Kevin Youkilis, a fan favorite in Boston, was traded Sunday from the Red Sox to the Chicago White Sox, which is Obama’s favorite team. The move isn't going over well with many Red Sox fans.
“I’m just saying, he’s going to have to change the color of his socks,” the president said laughing.
“I didn’t think I was going to get any boos out of here,” Obama said. “I should not have brought up baseball, I understand, my mistake, you got to know your crowd.”
Tickets for President Obama’s fundraiser at Symphony Hall cost between $250 and $2,500.

National Politics
The scandals dogging President Barack Obama are a political gift to Republicans, who could use some good luck after recent election losses. It's not clear, however, how Republicans can best capitalize on Democrats' woes, legislatively or politically.
