CINCINNATI - North College Hill's assistant law director has found himself in trouble with the law.

Sources says Mark Basil owes more than $1,500 in income taxes dating back to 2007.

During that time Basil was the elected Law Director for the city.

On January 1st, the city changed their charter to require the position be appointed.

Basil was replaced by Bill Deters and became temporary Assistant Law Director to ease the transition period.

The city is taking Basil to mayor's court if the bill isn't paid in full by the 17th.

Basil tells WCPO he had been paying the taxes over time and was surprised the city suddenly demanded the money all at once.

He says he will pay the bill in full on Friday Jan. 6.
