Rev. Lynch reacts to downtown shooting

CINCINNATI - It's sadly inevitable, given the recent rash of officer-involved shootings that some Tri-Staters nervously draw parallels with the Timothy Thomas shooting. But, as it turns out there may not be that many comparisons beyond the obvious.

The Reverend Damon Lynch, Jr. spoke with 9 News Monday about the recent shooting of 17-year-old Davon Mullins. He says that in his experience community reaction is different. He said the community is at peace over this shooting, and that in many instances the prayers are that such an altercation doesn't happen again.

The Reverend says part of that view is based on what he heard from congregants at his church Sunday morning. Lynch also described what Cincinnati Police Chief James Craig is facing as a type of baptism so early in his tenure, though he said Craig is handling it well.

Lynch added that the obvious struggle between the officer and the teen and the gun visible in the video of that struggle are why there seems to be no outrage over the boy's death.

Lynch said the reaction has nothing to do with the race of the police chief and everything to do with what people can so clearly see.
