NEW ORLEANS - Some unexpected victims of Hurricane Isaac in Louisiana are cows.

Many areas in Plaquemines Parish are flooded and are only accessible by airboat.

That's how the locals discovered hundreds of dead cows and others stranded on the porches of flooded homes.

Local news station WGNO reports airboats were being used to corral the cows to safety.

Guardsmen are flying bales of hay in to the cows for food.

The USDA is expected to assess the cattle situation later this week.
