MONTEREY, Calif. - Dole Fresh Vegetables is voluntarily recalling a limited number of cases of Dole American Blend salad in 12 oz. bags because of possible contamination.
According to the Dole website , the bagged salad tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes in a random sampling.
The Dole American Blend salads were distributed in 10 states: Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin. The bags of salad display the UPC 7143000933 and show a use by date of Oct. 17.
Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause foodborne illness. The illness primarily impacts pregnant women and adults with weakened immune systems. Most healthy adults and children rarely become seriously ill.
No illnesses have been reported in association with the recall.
