CINCINNATI - Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that happened in Winton Terrace Sunday night.

23-year-old Sondra Turner of St. Bernard was rushed to the hospital after she was shot in the face in the 500 block of Dutch Colony Drive just before 10 p.m.

Police said a stray bullet traveled through the front door, then several walls of the residence before it struck her in the face while she was in the kitchen located in back of the apartment. Investigators do not believe the victim was targeted.

The condition of the female has not yet been released but police tell 9 News her wound is considered non life threatening.

Police said witnesses described a dark maroon SUV, possibly a Suburban speeding away from the scene.

Several minutes after the shooting police received a second emergency call. Monica Harris, 25, said several bullets struck her car as she was driving onto Dutch Colony.

"I'm driving and it was like a flash in front of my face," said Harris. "That's when I hit the gas."

The mother of three young children was grateful her kids were not in the car at the time.

"The one bullet that came through the back went through my car, went from the back seat all the way to the front windshield, so I think if I would have have a passenger, it would have hit them too," said Harris.

If you have any information about this crime, please call Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040. Text tips to CRIMES (2-7-4-6-3-7) with "CINTip:" at the beginning of the message. You don't have to give your name and you may be eligible for a reward if your tips lead to an arrest.
