If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably put off Christmas shopping this year because of the Mayan prophecy that predicts the world will end Dec. 21, 2012.
Thanks to a new video from NASA entitled “Why the World Didn’t End Yesterday,” we can all rest assured that life will continue after the first day of winter.
Crud.
The new video, which was apparently leaked a few days early, dispels rumors that earthquakes will occur, the sun will explode and/or asteroids will hit the earth. The video calls the entire Mayan end-of-world scenario one giant misconception.
"Just as the calendar you have on your kitchen wall does not cease to exist after December 31, the Mayan calendar does not cease to exist on December 21, 2012," NASA said in a statement regarding the Mayan prophecy found on Mashable.com . "This date is the end of the Mayan long-count period but then -- just as your calendar begins again on January 1 -- another long-count period begins for the Mayan calendar."
Well, I hope people like gift cards.
