TURTLECREEK TWP, Ohio - Warren County commissioners approved Tuesday a $175 million racino in Turtlecreek Township.

The plan was approved at a public hearing Tuesday at 9 a.m.

Right now, the plan is for the racino to take up 120 acres near Monroe and I-75. The land is used to house a state prison farm across from the Lebanon Correctional Institution.

The racino, set to stay open 24 hours a day and seven days a week, would have both outdoor and indoor attractions including a harness racing track, indoor casino, four restaurants and a gift shop.

Officials are also expecting the economy to see a boost because it's expected to bring 700 new jobs to the area.

The developers hope to break ground as early as December. The project is expected to take about a year to complete.
