CINCINNATI - Cincinnati police say alcohol appears to have played a role in a fatal car accident that took place on the Hopple Street Viaduct in Camp Washington Wednesday afternoon.
Latonya Colbert, 39, was traveling westbound in a 2006 Chevrolet Impala in the 1500 block of Hopple Street around 2:15 p.m. when she drove left of center and struck an eastbound 2003 Kia Spectra driven by Tony Smith, 57, according to the police report.
Police say Smith succumbed to his injuries after being transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Smith was extricated from his vehicle by the Cincinnati Fire Department, according to the police report.
Colbert is at UC Medical Center and listed in serious condition as of Wednesday evening.
Neither driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, according to police.
No charges have been filed in the case at this time.
The accident remains under investigation.
