CINCINNATI -
Persistence paid off for a young Tri-State girl who recently received a letter from President Obama.

Nine-year-old Sean Kelly Darks is in the third grade at Kilgour Elementary in Hyde Park. Over the past year her class has written journal entries about field trips they've taken.

Darks sent seven letters about those experiences to President Obama. She never really knew if the president would actually write her back.

"I think it's special because that was my first time ever sending a letter to him," said Darks.  "I had to look up all the information and my mom wouldn't help me and my dad and my sister and it was really hard and this is the first time he's ever sent one back."

Sean Kelly is an honors student and says one day she wants to be a doctor.
