Train strikes, kills man in Trenton

TRENTON, Ohio - A man was struck and killed by a train in Trenton Friday afternoon.

Police say an unidentified person was struck by a northbound train around 1:47 p.m. while walking on the train trestle over Elk Creek, near First Street, in Trenton. Police are indicating the victim appears to be a white male in his 20s.

A medical helicopter was initially requested but was not sent after the victim was declared dead at the scene of the accident.

The train involved in the incident is reportedly owned by CSX, and has 90 cars and is more than 6,000 feet long.

Police are currently reviewing video from the train to determine the cause of the accident. The case remains under investigation.
