CINCINNATI - President Barack Obama spoke to a crowd of thousands in Cincinnati on Thursday, Sept. 22 on passing the American Jobs Act to assist the growing need for infrastructure improvements, such as the ones needed at the Brent Spence Bridge, and his visit is causing traffic headaches for several commuting to and from the city.

The president spoke just before 3 p.m. at Hilltop Ready Mixed Concrete, located at 511 W. Water Street downtown, where many people experienced road closures and traffic delays.

As of 4:30 p.m., there are no major accidents and both directions of the Brent Spence Bridge and other roads are reopen. All lanes of the bridge were shut down while the president spoke. Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes, such as crossing the Roebling Suspension Bridge or using I-275 on the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge.

Officials said that Hilltop Ready Mix Concrete was the only place to get a clear look at the bridge and put the president speaking at the podium with the bridge in the background.

Use the map below to determine alternate routes.(NOTE to mobile users, open the browser version of WCPO.com to see the map)

9 News, WCPO.com and KyPost.com will cover the president's speech LIVE at 2 p.m.

We'll continue to post more information on traffic changes during the president's visit as it becomes available.
