VEVAY, Ind. - The 39th annual Swiss Wine Festival is about to begin in Vevay, Indiana.
It takes place August 27 through the 29, 2010 at Paul Ogle Riverfront Park. Canoe races, corn hole tournaments, cheerleader competitions, a Big Wheel race and a poker run are just a few of the activities held during the event.
The 2010 edition of the Midwest Championship Grape Stomp welcomes individual and group competitors to test their toe-squishing talents against friends and neighbors. Creative grape stomping costumes are welcome. Judging is based on authenticity and enthusiasm.
The Wine Pavilion is a Swiss Wine Festival trademark, with many of Indiana’s award-winning wineries offering signature renditions in samples, glass or bottle. Producers are on hand to “talk wine” and share their fruit of the vine story with others.
Food, arts & crafts, rides, fireworks, parades, live entertainment, a beer garden and riverboat cruises are also part of the festival.
Admission to the Swiss Wine Festival is $3 per person. Children ages 5 to 12 can get in for $1. Children four and under are free. The Wine Tasting Pavilion admission is $13.00 or two for $25 per day and includes a souvenir etched wine glass.
Festival times are 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 27; 10:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, and 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday August 29.
