CINCINNATI - The Ohio Department of Education is releasing results from an investigation into school districts tampering with school attendance records.
The Lockland City School District is one of five districts in question. The district is accused of “scrubbing” attendance records.
The investigation found the district falsely reported 36 low-scoring students had moved on to other schools. When the state asked for proof, the district couldn't provide any.
Removing students from the books can boost performance measures that determine things like government aid.
Ohio state auditor David Yost began the investigation after allegations of irregular attendance and enrollment data in three Ohio school districts, including Lockland City Schools.
A full auditors report will be released Monday afternoon.
