MASON, Ohio - A Springboro High School teenager is dead after crashing his vehicle into a utility pole Thursday morning.
Shaun Frechette, 17, was driving a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria northbound on State Route 741 when he ran off the right hand side of the roadway and struck a utility pole at about 6:20 a.m. Clearcreek Township police officers responded to the scene in the 4700 block of North State Route 741. Officials say Frechette was the only person involved in the crash.
Frechette was apparently on his way to school when he ran off the roadway for reasons police are investigating. Clearcreek Township police and Fire/EMS units tended to Frecette’s injuries but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Springboro School’s Superintendent Todd Petrey, as well as School Resource Officer Sgt. Don Wilson were notified so the schools could prepare their crisis response personnel.
The crash investigation is ongoing.
The Clearcreek Township police request that witnesses contact the investigating officers at (937) 748-1267.
