NEW RICHMOND, Ohio - A New Richmond man was arrested after allegedly tying up a 70-year-old woman and stealing an undetermined amount of money from her Clermont County home on Thursday.
The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office located Charles R. Jackson, 26, of New Richmond and charged him with one county of aggravated burglary.
Jackson is being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
Clermont County Sheriff Patrol units responded to a home on Harvey Road around 2:10 p.m. Thursday afternoon after receiving reports of a home invasion. Upon arriving at the scene, sheriff’s deputies discovered a 70-year-old woman had been tied up by an apparent home invader.
The woman, whose name and address are being withheld by the Sheriff’s Office for both security and investigative purposes, claims a masked intruder tied her up with electrical tape and wire and left the residence on foot with an undetermined amount of money.
The woman was transported to Clermont Mercy Hospital and was treated for minor injuries to her wrist from being tied with tape and wire, sheriff’s deputies said.
Officials with the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office say it utilized a K9 unit to locate Jackson, who will have a bond hearing Friday at Clermont County Municipal Court.
The case will be assessed by the prosecutor's office and presented to the Clermont County Grand Jury for consideration of the aggravated burglary and additional charges.
